A regional course on ‘Human Rights Based Approaches (HRBA) for Water’ took place from 15 to 18 of June 2015 in Montevideo, Uruguay. This course followed the global ToT, which took place in Costa Rica in the year 2014, and initiated an active collaboration between LA-WETnet, Cap-Net UNDP and the Spanish Cooperation in Latin America, Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
In collaboration with REDICA and Cultura Ambiental, a total of 35 participants from Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil. Costa Rica, and Mexico attended the course. Implementation of IWRM in the region, which is in line with effective access to water and sanitation and formalization of access as a human right, gave the course a regional flavour and lead the way for continuity and application of principles and strategies.
