Bangladesh is exposed to a number of hydro-climatic disasters including riverine flood, flash floods, tidal surges, cyclonic events, drought, salinity intrusion and sea level rise. The coastal zone is the most threatened area of the country as it is exposed to almost all types of hydro-climatic disasters. It is predicted that by the year 2030, an additional 14.3% of the country would become extremely vulnerable to floods, while the existing flood prone areas will face higher levels of flooding. | ||
