Objectives:

The objective of Caribbean WaterNet is to spread knowledge and facilitate capacity building and communications in IWRM-related areas throughout the Caribbean.

Specifically, the network will:

  • seek to enhance human, organizational and institutional (capacity and) competence in IWRM, through facilitating cooperation -coordination and providing capacity building and training for/through members in the region.
  • engage in IWRM action research and translating results of research into tangible outputs on the ground.
  • Act as a channel for technical, financial, human and material resources in IWRM for the benefit of the region and members.

Outputs:

2008

  • Network members meeting, March, Trinidad.
  • Training of trainers on Economic and Financial Instruments for IWRM, March Trinidad.
  • Inventory of Skills and Materials in Water Supply and Sanitation in the Caribbean. Case study report for the network.
  • Study of the Potentials of e-Learning as a Training Mode in Integrated Water Resources Management in the Anglophone Caribbean. Case study for the network.
  • Model Integrated Water Resources Management Plan - Grenada. A framework document prepared by the network.

2007

  • Report on the Integrated Water Resources Management Capacity Needs Assessment for the Caribbean. A comprehensive assessment of capacity needs.
  • Training of water utility managers in IWRM. Organised by the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association. 26 (2 female) managers, project and technical officers from utilities in 13 caribbean countries participated in the course held in July in St Lucia.

2006

  • Founding network members meeting, December, in St Augustine, Trinidad.
  • Training of members on IWRM principles, Dec, Trinidad.
