Cap-Net signs an agreement with the Costa Rica Ministry for Environment and Energy

On March 28th in San José, Cap-Net and the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) of Costa Rica signed an agreement for the design and implementation of a national water capacity development policy with special emphasis on IWRM for Costa Rica. The agreement was signed by Dr René Castro, the Minister of Environment and Energy, and Kees Leendertse for Cap-Net. Cap-Net and MINAE are committed to exchange ideas, knowledge and resources to develop and implement such national plan. This framework agreement will be supplemented by annual work plans and budgets. Water and energy are closely interlinked and interdependent. Energy generation and transmission requires utilization of water resources, particularly for hydroelectric, nuclear, and thermal energy sources. Water Integrity Map for Latin America

In 2013 a report was developed with the objective of presenting a “Mapping of Integrity and Accountability in Water Resources Management and Relevant Capacities in Latin America” and with the aim to strengthen integrity and transparency in the Latin American water sector by producing a regional mapping report, assembling a team of specialists, and designing a capacity development plan.

The Gender, Water & Development Conference which is supposed to take place from 7-11 July 2014 in East London, South Africa has been postponed to 3-7 November 2014 due to unforeseen circumstances.

The new schedules are as follows:

Mon 3 November 2014: Pre-conference workshops, training courses and meetings

Tues 4 – Fri 7 November 2014: Conference proper

It is advisable for current participants to perform following immediately:

(i) Reschedule your flight so as not to incur extra costs, thereafter revisit your record on the database and insert the new details

(ii) Reschedule your accommodation with hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses and insert your place of accommodation in your record
