Hydro-Climatic Disasters in Water Resources Management

The main objective of this training material is to build the capacity of water managers and others to develop strategies for coping with hydro-climatic disasters such as floods and drought within the context of water resources management. An added expectation is improving the resilience of vulnerable communities’ and reducing the impact of extreme events.

The manual was developed at the initiative of the Nile IWRM network with support from United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR). Authors were Wangai Ndirangu, Julius Kabubi and Simeon Dulo. The training manual and supporting Powerpoints are only available in English at the moment and can be downloaded below. Other language versions will be made available soon. All materials (with additional reference documents in English) are available on CD.
