Objective of Training Course

The aim of this training course is to train senior RBO staffs and senior lecturers from the universities in Indonesia in implementation of IWRM principles in river basins in Indonesia within the existing legislation and laws regarding water resources management, using the training modules developed by UNDP Cap-Net. The overall objective of the course is to train (1) RBO participants on their key functions and responsibilities required for effective implementation of IWRM in river basins, and (2) senior lecturers who have been trained earlier in IWRM on how to apply these principles at river basin levels. The mix participants (RBO staff and academics) allow exchange of knowledge in the field of water resources management between academics and professionals in the field.

Target Group of Participants

The main target group of participants for the course are (1) water managers and their partners in river basins who have responsibility for managing the water resources in a river basin, and (2) senior lecturers in water resources management and river basin management working at universities. The level of the training material is reasonably high and participants are expected to contribute and share their experiences during the course. Basic knowledge of IWRM principles is essential in order to be able to follow the course in an effective way. Admission criteria to the course assume that basic understanding of IWRM is available, since the course will largely build upon the basic knowledge of IWRM.

- Water resource management indicators;
- Stakeholders;
- Water allocation;
- Pollution management;
- Monitoring;- Information management;
- Economic and financial instruments;
- Basin planning.
