The Sustainable Sanitation Alliance is a loose network of more than 134 partners – multi- and bilateral organisations, NGOs, private companies, governmental and research institutions. SuSanA aims to contribute to the achievement of the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) by promoting sustainable sanitation systems.

Objectives:

  1. Raise awareness about sustainable sanitation approaches and promote them broadly.
  2. Highlight how sustainable sanitation systems have a positive impact on meeting several of the MDGs.
  3. Show that sanitation projects should be planned with the early participation of all stakeholders and should be linked with hygiene promotion and capacity building activities.

SuSanA operates through ten working groups:
WG 1: Capacity development
WG 2: Costs & economics
WG 3: Renewable energies, climate change and groundwater
