| Examples | 1. Water problems associated to unplanned urban development. Project: Water table quantitative assessment in the Buenos Aires conurbation to determine the effects natural and anthropic factors exert on this phenomenon. Initial pilot study conducted in Lomas de Zamora; training fellowships for technical personnel and professionals paid by the Institute. Duration: 24 months as from July 2001. 2. Verification and optimization of the hydraulic design of infrastructure works Projects: Physical models for the Alicurá (Patagonia) and Los Quiroga (Santiago del Estero) dams; and mathematical models for the Yacyretá and Casa de Piedra reservoirs with the participation of trainees of INA's "Professional and Technical Training Program" and "Introduction to Research Work" . Research into and dissemination of "clean" technologies to prevent industrial pollution. Numerous training activities in Japan and Argentina, courses, workshops, experts, internships. Duration: 4 years as from April 2001. 4. Integrated water resources management. Project: Groundwater and Integrated Water Resources Management. Training of groundwater users and managers. Strategies to control groundwater salinization in eastern Mendoza; physical and economic modeling. Courses on integrated water resources and environmental systems management. Duration: 3 years as from April 2001. |
