Objectives:

  1. To promote regional co-operation among training and/or education and/or research institutions and organizations engaged in IWRM related activities in West Africa
  2. To strengthen the capacities of training and/or education and/or research institutions and organizations engaged in IWRM related activities in the region
  3. To facilitating research and the delivery of demand-driven training/education in IWRM in the region
  4. To promote the implementation of IWRM in the region

Outputs:

2008:

  • Training of trainers on IWRM, Burkina Faso, in collaboration with 2iE and GWP.

2007:

  • Course on IWRM principles, Togo March, in collaboration with GWP and DHI.
  • Course on gender and water, Burkina Faso June, in collaboration with Gender and Water Alliance.
  • Course on conflict management and resolution mechanisms, Ghana May, in collaboration with GWP.
  • Regional training on Economic and Financial Instruments for IWRM held in Lome in December.
  • Regional training on Groundwater management and IWRM held in Dakar in November in collaboration with GWP and the University of Cheik Anta Diop.
  • Network members meeting, Accra June. Election of new steering committee and new location for the secretariat.
