| Examples | 1.It gives undergraduate education leading to B. Sc. degree in Hydraulic engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Water Resources Engineering and Meteorology. 2.AWTI offer post graduate education leading to M. Sc. Degree in Irrigation Engineering and Hydropower. It is a two years program of 18 months course work and six months thesis work. The institute has the intention of developing post graduate programs in the areas of Hydrology & Water Resources, Water Supply and Sanitation, Integrated Water Resources and Watershed Management, and Food & Water Security. 3.There is an ongoing research program which is called 'Integrated Water Resources Development Research Program in Ethiopia'. It has three components - one dealing with erosion and sedimentation problems, the other with surface and ground water assessment, and the third with water quality assessment. It is a capacity building program in research and training. Currently, the program has one doctoral student doing his research in the area of soil & water conservation. 4. AWTI has been carrying out adaptive research in drip irrigation in collaboration with Israel, a capacity building research in integrated water resources including hydrological investigations, yield estimation and water balance analysis. Researches have been going on also in hydrometeorological investigation of southern rift valley, soil & land use investigation of the Hare catchment, and in developing artificial filter media for water purification. |
