| Examples | 1. Awasa Lake Level Rise Study & Design Project Awsa lake is found in the southern part of Ethiopia about 250 km from Addis Ababa. The project is envisaged to study the causes of the lake level rise, to estimate the extent of damage caused, to propose appropriate remedial measures an finally to prepare a design for the selected intervention measures. The Enterprise has studied the causes of the lake level rise by deploying its senior technical professionals to the site during July 1998 to April 2000. After studying the causes, it proposed different options of remedial measures. 2. Dire Dam Project The project area is located about 35 km north of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Enterprise made feasibility study and final design of the dam and appurtenant structures and a 10 km transmission pipeline. In order to determine the technical viability of the sites, during feasibility stage three different dam sites had been selected and detailed geotechnical investigations were carried out. It identified embankment material at the vicinity of the dam. It conducted detailed design of the dam and spillway, outlet structures and 10 km transmission pipeline connecting Dire Dam to the existing system of Legedadi Dam. In addition, it conducted construction supervision task and contract management for the Dam and appurtenant structures. 3. Bonga Irrigation Project The project area is located in the Gambela Regional State, Ethiopia. The project is one of small-scale projects undertaken by the regional government. It is composed of concrete diversion weir and 150 ha of irrigable land. Location of the weir is at a distance of 35 km from the regional capital. The enterprise conducted detailed design of the weir and the 150 ha irrigable land. In addition, it also accomplished construction supervision and contract management of the project. 4. Wabi Shebele Integrated Development Master Plan Project The project deals with the preparation of the integrated development master plan for the coming 30 to 50 years. The Enterprise is making the assessment, on both quantitative and qualitative basis as appropriate to the multi-sectoral natural resources of the basin, based on existing data and supplemented by additional data identified and required through observation and investigation in the field during the study. |
