Nile Basin Capacity Building Network for River Engineering
Member countries:
Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda
Objectives:
- To strengthen the human and institutional capacity of the Nilotic States to manage the water resources in the Nile River Basin in an effective and environmentally sound way.
- This will be done by strengthening the human resources development capacity and research capacity in a specific field of IWRM, namely River Engineering
- Through its capacity building operations in River Engineering, the project aims at increasing the co-operation between training and research institutes in the Nile Riparian States so as to level the playing field, create mutual understanding, and build confidence among scientists and politicians from different countries sharing the same resources
Outputs:
- An equipped Regional training facility at Cairo (computer network, laboratory facilities, audio - video facilities, well equipped library, own transportation means)
- Training of trainers
- Managerial team for course management and marketing
- Training of professionals from Nilotic and Arab country
- Fully operational website
